Terry Adams
The child of newspaper editors, with roots in Cincinnati Ohio, Terry Adams grew up in newsrooms and Catholic Grammar schools. He earned an M.A. in Creative Writing and American Literature at Miami University, Ohio. During the Vietnam War era, he became Top Secret Control Officer at the U.S. Air Force’s Strategic Air Command Headquarters, where he had the opportunity to contemplate a personal role in the destruction of civilization. He left the service as a Conscientious Objector in 1972.
He has presented private poetry workshops, “The Study Of Modern Poetry For Modern Poets”, and “Writing Over The Edge,” and led workshops through Foothill College and the Los Altos-Mountain View Adult School.
He has organized and emceed a Poetry Festival at the Beat Museum in San Francisco for 10 years, and organizes, with Joe Cottonwood, the monthly “Lit Night” in La Honda.
His poems have appeared in Poetry, Ironwood, The Sun, Witness, College English, Catamaran, The Painted Bride Quarterly, and elsewhere. His poetry collection, “Adam’s Ribs,” is available from Off The Grid Press. Terry lives under giant Redwoods in La Honda with his wife Eva, where he restored and inhabits Ken Kesey’s infamous cabin.
